DC 11: Vincenzo Montanarella (VHIR)

Vincenzo Montanarella obtained his Single Cycle Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE). His master’s thesis focused on the design, characterization, and in vitro validation of polymeric nanoparticles for gene therapy as a potential treatment for glioblastoma.

He is currently working at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) in Barcelona as part of the Clinical Biochemistry, Drug Delivery and Therapy group, under a MSCA Predoctoral Fellowship within the SPM 4.0 project. His research centers on the design, characterization, and preclinical validation of drug-loaded nanoparticles targeting both differentiated and cancer stem cells. A comprehensive characterization of the nanoparticles, including their label-free internalization into cells, will be performed using SPM technologies. These findings will also be correlated with the biomechanical properties of the different cell populations.
